Am I able to use an Old Smartphone as a Camera Monitor?

To be crystal clear...I have a Amazon Fire Phone that I intend to remove from my cellular service. BUT, I'd like to still use the phone for something! Is it possible (or has anyone ever used) their Fire Phone as a camera monitor? (NOTE: my Camera is a Cannon HF R600.
