Best cameras to shoot a time lapse?

I'm going to need to shoot several indoor time lapses at a convention, and want to know what cameras I should be renting (I'll need 8). They'll be mounted in various places to shoot for several hours, and will have to be plugged into a power source the entire time so that we don't have to access them very often. I heard that Go Pros have issues if they are filming when charging? Like jittery movement or frame drops. Is this all Go Pros or just a specific model? Price isn't really an issue since we'll be getting rentals.
